As soon as December hits, East Yorkshire transforms into a winter wonderland brimming with Christmas cheer. Gardens twinkle with festive lights, people greet each other with warm smiles, and there’s a contagious excitement in the air—especially from the little ones eagerly counting down the days. Here at Hog Roast Bewholme, we can’t help but get swept up in the festive magic. With Christmas just around the corner, business is bustling, and we’re loving every minute of it!
With callouts nearly every day and a packed schedule ahead, you might think we’d be frazzled. But rest assured, this is our favourite time of year. The chance to be part of the festive celebrations, serving up our legendary hog roasts, is something we cherish.
Last weekend, we had the pleasure of attending a nearby Christmas fete, which was raising money for charity and wow, did it get us in the holiday spirit! The event, which drew in hundreds of visitors, was a true spectacle. Boasting a dazzling ice rink (the ultimate Christmas activity!), Santa’s Grotto, fairground rides for all ages, a snow machine, a giant snow globe, live music, and an entire village of stalls brimming with local crafts, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Amidst the cheerful chaos, Hog Roast Bewholme’s team donned Santa hats and fired up the hog roast. Our buns—stuffed to perfection with tender pulled pork, crunchy crackling, and rich sage and onion stuffing, topped with a dollop of applesauce, were pure holiday happiness.
We also had a little something extra for those craving classic Christmas flavours. Our homemade mince pies served with warm brandy cream were a huge hit, and our mulled wine (both boozy and kid-friendly versions) was the perfect antidote to the frosty air.
The best part was seeing the joy on people’s faces as they tucked in. The compliments kept rolling in all day long (pun intended!). Whether it was their first taste of a hog roast or their hundredth, our customers couldn’t get enough of our tasty baps.
