The life of a caterer is an immensely busy one. Even when a team like Hog Roast Howden isn’t out at events (which isn’t all that often, it must be said) we are always working hard to either improve our services, or ready ourselves for future events.
Part of that may be extra training for the team. We do refresher days for all of our Hog Roast Howden teams around the country from time to time. Typically this comes before the festive season since it is such an important time for the business, and the menu and service changes a little from our usual year-round work. Other times it can be at the beginning of the year when we want to try out new dishes or services that may join our selection for the rest of the year.
Another thing that keeps the Hog Roast Howden team is actually just continuing to get the name of the business out there. Social media goes a long way, and we have an excellent marketing team that handles that for us, but the value of getting out in front of both the public and other industry professionals is huge. Events such as industry conferences, or even wedding fairs are excellent for this.
Wedding fairs are not only hugely helpful and enjoyable for guests, they are also excellent for vendors in the industry like us. On our part as a caterer, wedding fairs allow us to see many of the other professional services in our industry. It is always hugely exciting to see acquaintance businesses again and again, as well as seeing what is new to the market for customers. Plus, we get to see some incredible venues in action as well – without having to rush around busy with cooking and serving, too. The main goal of them is of course to get out in front of potential customers, and we love getting to meet so many folk from in and around Howden, but there is a lot of value in just seeing what is going on in the industry as well.
So you see, even when the events aren’t on, we are finding plenty of ways to keep serving – only instead of being for guests, it’s for us!
