Do you ever wish you could travel back in time? Well, on Saturday, we got to do just that…kind of! Hog Roast Withernsea was hired to cater for a fun-filled, adult-only 80s-themed charity event – and we had the best time!
The venue was filled with groovy 80s tunes, courtesy of a spirited DJ, and guests dressed up as iconic characters from the unforgettable era of big hair, neon colours, and classic movie and TV moments.
From the original Ghostbusters crew to Marty McFly from Back to the Future, and the lovable gang from The Breakfast Club, the party was like stepping straight into an 80s movie. And it wasn’t just the singles getting creative with their outfits—couples got in on the fun too, with fantastic costumes like Baby and Johnny from Dirty Dancing, Jareth and Jennifer Connelly from Labyrinth, and of course, Princess Leia and Han Solo from Star Wars. Those voted best dressed were awarded generous prizes, but the fun didn’t stop there. There was an 80s movie and TV trivia quiz, raffles, and even more prizes to keep everyone engaged throughout the night.
With all that energy being expended on the dance floor, the guests were ready for some seriously delicious food to fuel their retro party vibes. And that’s where we came in!
Our Hog Roast Withernsea team served up a tasty gourmet BBQ spread, making sure there was something for everyone. The highlight? Our handmade British beef burgers, which were absolutely a chef’s kiss. Juicy patties, melty cheese, fresh tomatoes, crispy lettuce, and all the best sauces. We’re talking burger heaven, folks.
But we didn’t stop there! We also served sizzling sausages, tender chicken kebabs, sticky spareribs, veggie burgers, and BBQ-pulled jackfruit rolls for all the plant-based partygoers. Our selection of sides was just as delicious, with creamy coleslaw, a fresh Greek salad bursting with cucumber, tomatoes, olives, and crumbly Feta cheese, and freshly made mixed fries.
Hog Roast Withernsea’s food was such a hit that we were asked to serve seconds (and thirds!) all night long. The event organisers couldn’t have been happier with how everything went, and we were absolutely thrilled to hear that they didn’t just meet their fundraising target—they exceeded it!
